The good news: turning two has been loads of fun. I have pictures of the party, of the actual birthday day, and the official "Two Year" picture, but I'm still working on organizing them. Jason has had the laptop the last couple days and so I haven't been able to download pictures.
I do, however, have to show off the birthday cake that I made for the party. It's my first shaped cake (must be something about turning two because Raehan told me she did her first shaped cake for Hannah's 2nd birthday party). It's a horse. Can you tell?
So the lowdown on the cake: M&Ms for the bridle, lifesavers for the eyes and bridle rings, and Sour Patch Kids vines for the rope. Yellow cake, chocolate frosting, pink gel. Sydney ate approximately half of the M&Ms before we cut it, and then ate many many more. She requests them specifically as M&M&Ms.
As for the bad news, I'll be brief because it's really just rotten news and makes me feel kind of sick: the mechanic called today. We were hoping he'd say, "Truck is ready. Pick it up." Instead he said, "Engine block is cracked. Not worth fixing." So the short end: we are out at least $1200, will not end up with a working truck, and are now going to be a one car family that really needs two cars. We can't afford to buy a new truck (part of the whole spending $1200 on not getting a vehicle helped us out in that area). We are sad. We are very sad. And while the timing would normally not be so bad because Jason is done with school in a couple weeks, it is bad timing for us to be out a truck because we have a big project (we're building a house to sell, but it's a long story and not one I'm up to telling right now) that involves hauling stuff around. Bleh bleh bleh.
But we can't think about the whole thing too much because it's just too depressing. So a bit of goofiness: Sydney had me take pictures of random things around the house today.
