Ever since Sydney was born, I have decided to forgo the sending of Christmas cards in favor of sending Valentine's cards. As Jason said yesterday, "We're kind of different that way." I admit the idea first came about because I wanted to send my family pictures of Sydney, but I couldn't quite get it all together in time for Christmas. So, Valentine's seemed to be the next best date. Now I really enjoy sending out Valentine's cards because that's probably about the time everyone has thrown out their Christmas cards anyway.
This year I wanted to do something a little different since we've had a new addition to the family since last Valentine's Day. My search first led me to the Card Store, where I found an array of personalized stationary options. They were a little pricier than I wanted to spend for Valentine's cards, so I decided to get some photo postcards to use as thank you notes for baby shower gifts. I wasn't sure how they'd turn out, but really what's not to love about a post card with a darling little face on it? I also simplified my life by having a thank you message pre-printed on the cards, so all I had to do was stick on a stamp, write in the address and away they went. Even though I would have preferred to have written a personalized message to everyone, I'm still feeling guilty from not sending out some thank you cards for gifts for Sydney. Sometimes "easier" wins out over "sentiment."
So the Card Store took care of one thing, but I still needed something for Valentine's Day. I ended up going with personalized stamps from PhotoStamps.
Oh. my. gosh. Are these not just the cutest little stamps you ever did see? I got two sheets of them, and I was almost overwhelmed by all the adorableness of seeing 40 stamps adorned with Jules' face.
Of course, costing twice what they allow for in postage means that they won't be paying for bills, but they're a cool thing for a special event. I ended up not having quite enough to cover all the cards we sent out, so I felt badly that some folks ended up with romantic Disney stamps instead. A smooching Mickey and Minnie are cute, but they can't really compete with a new baby, can they?
