The Results of Madness

Have you just been dying to know who won my NCAA Blogball Bracket Challenge? You have? Well, let me spare you any more suspense.

Gosh oh gee, it was me.

I got my name in lights with notcelebrity.co.uk

I'd like to say it's because I'm a college basketball genius, or even that I saw the word "Florida" spelled out in the stars, but really I just got lucky by looking at a few professional bracket guesses and then averaging their results. What can I say? It's a gift.

Technically, I came in second because I had put together a non-competing bracket made up of fan favorites. That bracket got first place, but since it wasn't competing then I get first by default. At any rate, I'm not awarding myself the Amazon gift certificate because that's not too much fun. So I'm splitting the rewards between the second and third place winners.

Second place goes to my lovely former student Kim who will receive her gift in the form of a snazzy wedding present when I see her walk down the aisle next month (woo hoo!).

Third place goes to my sister's teaching colleague in China, Nick. Considering he's been out of the country for awhile, I'd say he did pretty well. I don't know if Amazon works that well in China, so I'm thinking an iTunes gc might be a better reward. Let me know, Nick, what works for you.

So congrats to the winners, and thanks to all of you who played -- Kim C, Nick and Kim T, Nancy, Amy, J-L, my sister and my sweet husband. Hope I see you all again next March for some more tournament fun!

PS: Thanks to Ally Bean who provided the link for these spiffy light-up signs. I didn't even think of it until just now that her sign was also used for winning the NCAA bracket. They really are quite perfect though for bragging :)

funny how things work out you basketball fanatic.

Congrats to you! I know little about college Basketball, so I stay away from anything like that. I would look stupid by choosing teams by how well I liked their mascot or colors.

sad about the libraries...but yay about the basketball. I guess I should have shown more loyalty to my temporary, adopted home state. Kansas turned out to be worthless! : )

Belated congrats on your win. I did come in second in my Yahoo bracket, thankfully!!

Yay, I won, I won! (kind of) *does a little dance around the room* Can't wait to see you at the wedding, only 25 more days, but who's counting! :)
