Not too many things are worth me missing Tuesday night Family Bedtime Storytime. Not too many things are worth me missing Storytime AND watching House. It has to take an extra-special event to get me to miss my favorite events of the week. An event that better include food.
Leave it up to Stefanie and Becca to cause me throw favorites to the wind and say, "Yes! I'm in!" The event? A circle of bloggers getting together for coffee and cookies and even a trivia game to test our knowledge of each other's homework assignments.
The extra fabulous and amazing some-I-knew-before-and-some-I-met-for-the-first-time bloggers met up at Becca's house and just hung out. We talked. We chatted. We drank coffee. My contribution of the evening was to sing the praises of Google Reader (what! you haven't signed up yet? crazy kids!) and Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements (oh sweet Photoshop, how I love thee). And just as I was about to leave I met Rachel and we discovered how much we both loved The Thirteenth Tale (what! you haven't read it! read it now!), and then an hour and umpteen books later we were kindred spirits.
Did I have fun?
I should say so. I even wore my special jingle bell socks to the event. Oh yeah. I can still bring it. Add in some great chats--Angie (to the right) and I talked about community; Leslie (to the left) and I talked about blogging; Ona (to the far right) gave me the phone number of great hair stylist; plus half a dozen more conversation--and it was an all around fun evening. No kids! Coffee and cookies! No kids!
And lots of giggles.
Especially after I got my camera back from Abby and discovered some extra-lovely pictures she had taken. You can take the mom out of the crazy, but you can't take the crazy out of the mom. Or you know, something like that.
It was way fun. And all thanks to this little community that brings us together and helps us share things that we ordinarily wouldn't or couldn't in person. Yes, definitely something we'll have to do again.
