Becoming the Parent You Want To Be: A Sourcebook of Strategies for the First Five Years
by Laura Davis. I skimmed a lot, but really found the chapter on discipline and how to keep your emotions under control very insightful. (****)
Ella Enchanted
by Gail Carson Levine. Really charming and lovely, just as a fairytale should be. I listened to the audiobook version, which is very well told. (*****)
Small Surrenders: A Lenten Journey
by Emilie Griffin. This was exactly what I needed to read. The book goes day-by-day through the Lenten season, and worth reading even if it's not Lent. (*****)
Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life
Anne Lamott is a writer's writer. Highly encouraged to read it. (*****)
90 Minutes in Heaven
by Don Piper. The story of a man who died, spent 90 minutes in Heaven, and came back to life to tell his story. Intriguing and encouraging. (****)
Amazing Baby
by Desmond Morris. Gorgeous photographs, fascinating facts about babies, a good baby-gift book. (****)
Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha
by Roddy Doyle. Doyle is a writer crucial to the modern Irish literature canon. The book is interesting, although more so if you know Irish themes.
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man
by James Joyce. A required read for any serious student of Irish literature. Best read in an academic setting.
