We are going on DAY THREE of canceled school. It's snowy. It's icy. It's FOUR PEOPLE LIVING AT HOME. It's complete and utter chaos.
Actually, no, it isn't.
It's the opposite of chaos. It's relaxing, it's man-to-man defense for parenting, it's sleep in late, it's early Christmas vacation. It's nice. Jason even made it to Sydney's informal dance recital this morning. How's that for a treat?
And since we have our trusty truck that can get us around town with relative ease, we're getting our Christmas shopping done, although I did order several gifts on Amazon yesterday because it's hard to beat their prices for book gifts. And CDs. And maybe an exercise DVD that I got for someone. (Don't worry, she requested it. I would NEVER give someone an exercise DVD unless she wanted it because...ack. Awkward. And mildly insulting.)
Speaking of gifts and shopping and ordering online...
Kohls kicked off the shopping season earlier this month with their 25 Deals of Christmas.
In their own words:
- It's a new program designed to further help customers get more for their money during a difficult economy. New this year, the ‘25 Deals of Christmas’ program will offer incredible values on very desirable gifts like toys, appliances, electronics and jewelry during the 25 consecutive days leading up to Christmas. The savings on the day’s featured item will be offered for that day only, while supplies last, in store and online at Kohls.com.
They've created a handy-dandy downloadable widget that tells you what each day's deal is. Like today's deal is a Kitchen Aid mixer for $189.99. I do love my Kitchen Aid. If only it were here in the apartment, I would be making cookies. It's not here though, which is quite sad although my waistline will surely thank me later.
And on Sunday, they have select fragrances on sale, like J. Lo's Glow, which I am not ashamed to admit to wearing. I used to be, because it seemed so silly to wear a designer perfume, but it makes me smell nice, and there's no shame in smelling nice. Am I right?
Anyway, in order to help you do some of your own shopping, and because the economy is not so good, and because I'm just happy about all that snow coming down outside, I'm giving away a $50 Kohls gift card (courtesy of Kohls...isn't that nice of them?).
Leave a comment telling me what you want for Christmas, and on Sunday--which is Julianne's birthday--I'll draw a winner.
Because I procrastinated on having this little contest, it's quite possible you won't get the gift card before Christmas. That just means you might just have to spend that money on yourself. Or someone else, if you're feeling generous. Of if you're like me who has a terrible problem spending money on girls' dresses instead of buying myself a pair of much needed shoes, you'll spend it on your kids. Whatever makes you happy.
Ready, set, go!
