*cough, ahem, cough*
Today's featured music: A Tune of Winter Illness.
The conductor steps up to the platform, his Zicam swab at the ready.
Jules raises her sleepy head in anticipation before she bursts forth with her throaty cough, crescendos into a fever of 101. Sydney chimes in--quietly at first--with a sniff, then a sneeze, and then an erupting chorus of mynosehurts, passthekleenex, mylegshurt. The hum of the humidifier fills the moment of silence. The conductor motions to me, and I boom in with coughs that threaten to knock me over, the percussion taking a cue from the sound of my head throbbing.
A cough drop wrapper hits the floor, a gurgle of cough medicine echos throughout the hall. A slow wheeze.
By all means, applaud after the first movement.
I'm hoping the second movement is the sound of sleeping through the night.
