Today is my sister's 30th birthday.
I love a million things about Andrea: her ability to make me laugh and cheer me are at the top of the list.
A few weeks ago I devised a plan. Since her big day was coming up, and since I needed a bit of cheering up myself, I decided that I needed to visit her for her birthday. Not just visit her, but SURPRISE visit her.
It's worth mentioning that our family doesn't do surprises. No surprise parties. No surprise gifts. We find that surprises takes a lot of effort. Nevertheless, Andrea's roommate thoughtfully picked me up at the Denver airport yesterday morning, drove me to Fort Collins, and when I walked in to see my sister she could not have been more surprised. She thought she was hallucinating, that's how surprised she was.
It's been such a fun trip. Going mini-golfing, going hiking, going frisbee golfing, going a whole night without waking up. I needed this trip on so many levels. Extra bonus to spending all this fabulous time with my sister: I'm going to meet Gretchen from Lifenut.
Happy Birthday, Sistah. You's the best, and thanks for letting me crash your birthday party.
