...and Grandpa Steve!
Hooray for being seven weeks old!
The story behind the photoshoot: My girls are so very, very lucky to have four grandparents who love them very, very much. (They are also fortunate enough to have living great-grandparents who love them, although we've had some big great-grandparent losses over the past year.) When I think of my grandparents, certain images of them spring to mind. I think of my Grandpa Larson on the tractor, my Grandma Larson baking. I think of my Grandma Stout waltzing in her living room, and my Grandpa Stout (still living, thankfully) laughing and--from when we lived in Salem--sitting in the car getting ready to drive Sydney up to the Family Farm.
My girls will remember lots of things about Jason's and my parents, but if I were to guess, I think certain images will pop to mind when they think of their grandparents. They'll hear the sound of milk steaming and think of Grandpa Chuck making coffee. They'll see quilts and smell coffee and think of Grandma Sharon drinking coffee from her lovely coffee mugs. They'll need help burning a DVD of a movie or finding the lyrics to a song and think of Grandma Nancy working at the computer. They'll want a thrill of zooming around the farm checking mole traps and think of Grandpa Steve riding on the mule.
This week I tried to capture the grandparents doing the things that are so distinctly them. Thank you, Grandparents, for loving my kids!
For what it's worth: I love all the pictures I took this week, but the above picture chokes me up a little bit. It's a bit out of focus and was taken as I was trying to get the lighting right, but I love it anyway because it exactly captures my dad and Addie, as well as reminds me of growing up on the farm with my grandpa. It just goes to show, sometimes the perfect shot isn't always the perfect shot, and that's part of what makes it perfect.
