...ocean in view! O! The Joy!
It was a typical day at the Oregon coast: cold, windy, rainy. It was, perhaps, even worse weather than when Lewis and Clark would have first spotted the Pacific Ocean (the quote is taken from Lewis' journal, though I fixed his spelling errors (he was a free-spirited speller)).
Love as wide as the ocean.
The photoshoot: My family is uber-tolerant of my whims. On a gray, windy, RAINY day, we drove the 2+ hours to Seaside, Oregon, and tromped on down to the beach. This is the kind of day you want an ocean-front hotel room, with a fire-blazing, and hot cocoa in your mug. It is not the kind of day for photos.
We took photos! Because we live in the Pacific Northwest! And what's a little rain to keep us from making Addie's Alphabet extra special?
Even more exciting? I forgot the outfit Addie was supposed to wear down to the beach, so we improvised with jammies and a hat fortuitously forgotten in the back of the car.
If Addie had been born in mid-spring instead of mid-September, perhaps I could have got a photo like this one, but since it would have been rather indulgent to fly to a warmer climate just for a photo, then we worked with what we had.
Fortunately, the girls thought the beach was wild and crazy fun, and the two trips on the carousel, a visit to a cool toy shop, and a bag full of taffy made them cheery and bright.
Merry day-after Christmas to us, and our 15-week old sweetie pie!
