On our way to school this morning, I pointed out a rainbow to the girls.
"Hey! Look! A rainbow!" (fascinating dialogue, yes?)
We all ooh'd and ahh'd over it, and then for no reason (except the fact that I regularly burst into song) I started singing part of a childhood playground song.*
"....Slide down my rainbow, into my playroom door, where we'll be jolly friends forever more - more - more!"
"You know, Mom," Sydney called from the backseat, "rainbows aren't really slides. They're light reflected into colors."
Next she'll be telling me Santa Claus and unicorns don't exist either. Sheesh.
*Adding insult to injury, Google has informed me I've had the lyrics wrong all these years. I need to go sprinkle some glitter in my eggnog now to cheer me up.
