I have had a terrible cold this week, but tried to make myself feel spiffy by wearing heels to class. I like teaching in heels. Makes me feel cool. What doesn't make me feel cool? The fact that my nearly 35-year-old back is totally out of whack because of wearing heels whilst carrying a baby and hiking up and down the hilly campus. Boo.

I find it an odd phenomena that because of Facebook I know the maiden name of almost all of my married female friends. And sometimes it's all a jumble in my head as I try to remember what their actual name is. Anyone else experience this?

Remember when I made and reviewed a photobook by Lulu? Well, at the time I didn't post the link to the pages because the book was a Christmas gift for Andrea and I didn't want to spoil the surprise. Now that she has the book, I'll share the link. I structured the book by seasons, with the goal of giving my sister some reminders of her life back here in the PacNW, as well as something she could show to her new Scottish friends. It's short but sweet.

I found a yellow jacket buzzing around in my office the other day. I fear that he had hibernated in the ceiling tiles and flew out when we overheated that room one day. Now I'm paranoid every time that room is extra warm and I hear a rustle in the ceiling. A whole swarm of bees might come pouring out! Horrors.

I do almost all my typing these days with one hand because I nurse Addie while sitting at the computer, and she's gotten so wiggly that I have to hold on to her or she'll roll right off the pillow I use to prop her up. When I do have the chance to type with two hands, it's so freeing. I hate typing with one hand. Addie just fell asleep as I typed that last sentence, and so now I'm typing with two hands. Whee! Look at my fingers go! Oh, I know you can't, but I can.

A couple weeks ago, I took a video of Addie with my phone. The quality isn't great, and of course I'm making lots of ridiculous sounds at her, but if you enjoy smiley adorable babies, then here you go.

Even though I don't feel fantastic, tonight I'm meeting my friend Devon (who sadly doesn't blog anymore) in Portland and we're going to go listen to Stephanie Schneiderman at Jimmy Maks. I actually don't listen to her regular music, but I know of her because she sings lots of the cover songs for That Baby CD (which I reviewed once upon a time, and still, in fact, love). I'm sure she's moved on to greater and mightier things since then, but I'll always think of her as the voice singing "Three Little Birds."
After the music, we're finding dessert. Whatever I eat, I'll pretend it's delicious even though my nose is so stuffed up I won't be able to taste it. It's the thought that counts, right? Or something like that.
