Last year I was writing about how I was okay with having a baby on September 11. It turned out that I didn't have a baby on 9/11. She arrived the next afternoon.
And while we could have had a perfectly lovely celebration for Addie tomorrow, we decided to do it today instead.
For one thing, I like weekend birthday parties.
I also like bringing candles and cupcakes to the table on a date that will forever be etched in my mind. Like most of you, I will always vividly recall the events of what happened 10 years ago. But now I have another memory that hugs the sad one.
Ten years ago I cried and wondered about the future.
One year ago I smiled and wondered about the future.
What a difference a baby makes.
And so on a hot Sunday afternoon, everyone on the Family Farm along with Jason's parents gathered together to celebrate Addie and tell her how happy we are that she was born.
Even though it was a relatively low key affair, I'm always up for a little birthday fun. So I made up the invitations,
although I admit the alphabet idea is not original with me (I got the idea here). Considering the photographic year that Addie has had, I thought an alphabet themed party would be appropriate.

Sometimes I go overboard on the food. And sometimes I get a little stressed out about going overboard on the food. So today, I just kept it easy since it was after lunch time and closer to snack time. I like snacks. Today's snacks consisted of fruit kabobs, veggies, chips, and cupcakes. Simple stuff.
The skewers were a big hit with the kids. Fortunately, no major injuries reported. Jules did poke her hand, but quickly recovered. *whew*
And of course, the party wouldn't have been be complete without showcasing some of Addie's best (alphabetized) moments.
Despite not having a nap, Addie was a happy birthday girl and amazed us all once again at her good naturedness.
What would we do without our Addie-kins?
We just love that baby!
