Jules loves to take pictures with my phone. Even though most of the pictures are a little bit out of focus, I still love to look at them. I love seeing everything at her eye level.
Yesterday, I picked Jules up at pre-school. A few minutes before we left, I gave her my phone. She took pictures of her classroom, of her friends at school, and then whatever caught her eye as we drove to pick up Sydney at school. In fifteen minutes, she managed to take almost 40 pictures.
Seeing the car handle reminds me of how little Jules really is.
We pass by a lot of fields on the way to Syd's school.
We sat in the carpool line, talking about the upcoming birthday party Jules was invited to. Ever since Sydney started school, she is regularly invited to birthday parties; Jules, however, not as often because her social circle is much, much smaller (and younger, so I'm guessing the parties are still mostly family affairs). This Saturday, though, Jules is going to a party. She will get to give the present. She will get to sing the song and play the games. And Sydney? Has ballet rehearsal.
The truth is both the girls were invited, but Jules was so tickled that she was going to a party without Sydney that I crumpled up the envelope addressed to both girls and let Jules hold the pretty butterfly invitation all by herself. The birthday party is for a classmate of Jules', and Syd was no doubt invited out of politeness.
Sometimes a girl needs to go to her own parties instead of watching the big sister go off and have fun.
From school, to fields, to parking lot, to smiling face: the journey of 15 minutes.
